Welcome to the third issue of the Workplace Challenge Programme newsletter for the 2024/25 financial year, which continues with the tradition of sharing productivity improvement information, as well as showcasing how companies have improved their productivity through the implementation of the programme. The Workplace Challenge Programme is a programme within Productivity SA, which is an entity aimed at promoting the productivity of South African enterprises. We aim to strengthen the capabilities of businesses, thereby enhancing economic growth and job creation.
The Workplace Challenge Programme is one of our flagship business transformation and competitiveness improvement initiatives. The programme, funded by the Department of Trade & Industry, aims to increase enterprise productivity and competitiveness through improved value chain efficiencies and the establishment of model companies to disseminate processes and lessons. The case studies in this newsletter illustrate how the programme was implemented in a host of organisations. The interventions by the programme improved operations in them and enabled an uptick in production.
For over 25 years, the programme has made inroads in South African companies through the implementation of various methodologies which have resulted in those entities performing significantly better. In the past five years, Productivity SA and the Workplace Challenge Programme have supported over 1 344 enterprises and trained approximately 1 154 entrepreneurs. Through partnerships, the Workplace Challenge Programme has enabled business, Productivity is the lifeblood that fuels growth and innovation. By embracing it, businesses can translate their aspirations into tangible outcomes. labour and government to work together in promoting the success and growth of business countrywide through productivity improvement.
