National Productivity Awards Winners 2018
On 19th October 2018, Productivity SA, the government entity tasked with promoting productivity and employment growth in South Africa announced the winners of the National Productivity Awards 2018 at a Gala Dinner compered by Ms. Redi Tlhabi at Gallagher Estate, Midrand. The announcement of the National Productivity Awards marked the end of Productivity Month.
During October, which is Productivity Month, the importance of productivity in enhancing economic growth is brought to the fore through a series of productivity workshops and seminars. The broader objectives of Productivity Month, which was themed “Productivity: a catalyst for competitiveness and sustainable growth and development”, are to promote productivity and competitiveness of the South African economy, raise awareness about the role of productivity in enabling economic growth and promoting Productivity SA programmes’ role in enabling a productivity improvement.
The highlight of Productivity Month, is the National Productivity Awards event which aims to recognise and provide a platform to inspire a competitive and productive South Africa. Productivity SA uses the awards to galvanise all South Africans to embrace the concept of productivity as a way of life, enhance Productivity SA brand and increase our footprint through various activities during the Productivity Month.
The Chairman of the Productivity SA Board, Mr. Mthunzi Mdwaba, says productivity and competitiveness are inextricably linked and are the main drivers of economic growth, income and better living standards. According to Mdwaba, “higher productivity is particularly important for more successful competitiveness on markets open to international competition, as it brings about a long-term improvement in the quality of life and in the creation of job”.
